Five EPAA students (and one from Oxford Day) presented
their prototype, a digitally enhanced cane for the blind called Glow
Vis, at a Design for Social Good Showcase hosted in the Stanford D.
School. They presented in front Silicon Valley VCs and competed against 4
other teams from Nueva H.S to receive funding to further develop their
product. Despite only having 5 Saturdays to work on this, compared to
the entire school year the Nueva students had, Glow Vis was selected as
one of two finalists! They requested $250 dollars to continue doing work
like this, but the judges were so impressed with their work that they
awarded them a check of $1000!
I was so
inspired by their hard work and sacrifice of their Saturdays, but I was
even more blown away by their poise and confidence in what could have
been a very intimidating environment.
Please join me in congratulating and celebrating the achievements of our students!!
